How Does a Surface Laser Decrease Visibility of Veins?

Featured Image

Do you want to decrease the appearance of visible veins on your skin? Our board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Matthew Lynch, offers surface laser treatments at Lynch Vein & Aesthetics in Peoria, AZ. Our surface laser, the Harmony XL PRO by Alma, is one of the best on the market and can be used on different types of vascular lesions. Whether you have hyperpigmentation, acne scars, wrinkles, abnormal skin texture, or other imperfections on your skin, there are laser treatments that can exfoliate dead and damaged skin cells from your skin. What results is softer, brighter, and younger-looking skin for our patients. Ultimately, surface laser treatments promote new collagen growth. During a consultation, we can learn about your needs and determine which surface laser treatment for veins will work best for you.

Am I a candidate for surface laser treatment?

You can determine if you qualify for surface laser treatments for vein issues at your consultation at Lynch Vein & Aesthetics. Some factors make you ineligible for laser treatment for veins, including:

  • If you have a medical condition that may worsen or be triggered by laser treatment

  • If you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant

  • If you have a vascular condition that requires more invasive treatment

  • If you’re on specific medications, such as Accutane® or retinoids

  • If you have an implanted medical device or a pacemaker

Dr. Lynch will perform a physical exam of your veins, ask you questions about your past and current health, and review your medications before approving you for surface laser treatment. He will choose the best treatment with you based on your veins’ size, depth, location, severity, and overall health. He will answer any questions during a thorough consultation and tell you how to prepare for your surface laser treatment.

How does surface laser treatment work?

When you visit our office, we offer a comfortable environment to receive your advanced vein treatment. Before we start your surface laser session, we prep your skin with anesthetic and conductive gel. We also provide eye protection to protect your eyes from the laser light. Next, Dr. Lynch will pass the Harmony XL PRO laser over the veins. Your veins will absorb the energy from the laser, and your veins should diminish. Before you leave, we apply a cooling gel to the treatment area.

Your skin will both look and feel smoother. However, it can take several sessions to see your overall goals.

Using the Harmony XL PRO, we offer several surface laser vein treatment methods at our Peoria, AZ office, including:

  • ClearLift™: ClearLift treats age-related issues, such as fine lines, sun damage, wrinkles, skin laxity, and problems with texture or skin tone. It leaves a youthful look to the skin.

  • ClearVein™: This nonsurgical and noninvasive solution treats spider veins. It closes the veins to diminish their appearance.

Surface laser recovery

After your surface laser treatment session, your skin may be irritated. An ice pack can help relieve this discomfort, which should resolve within five days. For those receiving more in-depth treatment, the recovery time may be longer. You may also have your treated areas covered with dressings.

You will be given detailed aftercare instructions from Dr. Lynch. Limiting UV exposure is vital after laser treatment. Compression stockings are recommended for at least a week after your vein treatment. There is no real downtime after treatment. During your follow-up visit, we will monitor your veins and make recommendations for further procedures, if necessary.
