Who is a Candidate for advanced Vein Therapy?

If you are seeking treatment for more in-depth vein conditions, you may be surprised at all the options available to you. At Lynch Vein & Aesthetics, we base your treatment plan around your needs. He will talk with you one-on-one to learn about your overall health, the medications you take, your medical history, and more. He will likely perform a Doppler ultrasound to see the whole picture of your vein health. This is also an opportunity to mark and map out your veins. If you need advanced vein therapies, you can rest assured knowing that there are multiple options available to you. When you have a consultation, you can ask questions, raise concerns, and express what you need out of treatment with Dr. Lynch.

What Happens During ADVANCED VEIN THERAPIES?

Dr. Lynch performs advanced vein therapies as an in-office procedure at Lynch Vein & Aesthetics. All vein procedures will be set up in a minor procedure room for your privacy. Our team will prepare you for the chosen advanced therapy and give you a local or regional anesthetic to numb the area being treated. No sedation is needed for our advanced therapies. Dr. Lynch will navigate your treatment with a Doppler ultrasound, simultaneously watching on a monitor. This allows him to make a very small incision instead of going in for open surgery. Your procedure may take 45 – 60 minutes but can vary if you have multiple veins to treat. At the end of the therapy and the removal of the catheter, a simple, sterile bandage will be needed to dress the injection point.

About Dr. Lynch's advanced therapies

ClariVein
Dr. Lynch will make a small incision into your skin to insert the ClariVein catheter into your peripheral vein. He will inject the vein with an infusion of sclerosing agents. The ClariVein has a rotating wire tip to evenly disperse the solution in the peripheral vein.

Venefit
Venefit also involves the insertion of a catheter, but it will ablate the vein with fibers that disperse radiofrequency (RF) heat. The RF energy will cause the vein to shrink section by section as the fibers are pulled out of the catheter.

VascuLife
VascuLife is a laser-based technique with a robotic pull-back mechanism to treat your venous insufficiency. After the insertion of a catheter, fibers will be added for the conduction of the diode laser energy. The VascuLife has robotic pull-back and cooling mechanisms to provide you with fast, efficient treatment. Once the laser has treated the vein, it should close up.

Each treatment is different in its own way, but all of these therapies will have the same end – rerouted blood flow away from the damaged vein.

What to Expect After ADVANCED VEIN THERAPIES

During your recovery, Dr. Lynch will want you to wear compression stockings to improve blood flow and limit complications. You may see a difference in the appearance of your skin in one or two weeks as your body heals. Dr. Lynch will have you back to his office for a follow-up appointment. You can expect to have another ultrasound and examination to make sure that there are no signs of vessel perforation, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clots, inflammation, hematomas, and/or skin irritations.

Advanced vein therapies FAQs

What causes varicose veins?

Varicose veins are a common but painful condition that affects most people in Peoria, AZ. They occur when the valves in the veins that transport blood to the heart begin to weaken over time. The pooling and leaking of blood cause the vein walls to stretch and swell. Risk factors that increase your chance of developing varicose veins include genetics, hormone changes, and natural age.

Is advanced vein treatment painful?

Varicose veins are grossly swollen veins in the leg and can cause pain or discomfort in patients. Lynch Vein & Aesthetics is proud to offer solutions like a local or regional anesthetic to numb the area and make sure patients feel completely at ease during treatment. We also provide ways to ease the recovery process and make it as seamless as possible.

Which vein treatment is right for me?

Dr. Lynch will perform a thorough analysis to determine which varicose vein treatment would be best for each patient. Options may include sclerosing agents, radiofrequency energy, and even laser options. We can provide a comprehensive overview of each solution to help patients make an informed decision about how to move forward.

How long is recovery after an advanced vein treatment?

Recovery times may vary according to which treatment is used, how many veins are treated, and your health. However, in general, most patients will be able to immediately go back to their normal routine, avoiding strenuous activities for about a week while wearing compression garments. Patients can usually see improvements in their skin in about 1 – 2 weeks. Dr. Lynch will give you aftercare and recovery instructions during your consultation and after your procedure.

How long do I have to wear compression stockings?

Dr. Lynch will advise you on how long you'll need to wear compression stockings after your treatment depending on which procedure was used and your health. In general, most patients will need to wear compression stockings continuously for 24 – 48 hours after treatment. After that time, it is recommended that you wear them during waking hours for the next five days.
